<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a retractable writing utensil, in which the "jolting of a push-button" and the "jolting of a writing body" during writing are solved and, in addition, under the state being inserted in a pocket of a clothing or the like, the projected state of the writing tip part of a writing body beyond the tip opening part of a barrel can be judged only by seeing the projected amount of a push-button from the barrel. <P>SOLUTION: A retaining tube 17 having a spring retaining part 16 is connected with the rear end part of a ball-point pen refill 13. In a push-button 22 consisting of a rod-like shaft part 20 and a push-button part 21, by inserting the rod-like shaft part 20 in a fixed cam 8 and a rotating cam 10, a strikingly contact spring retaining member 23 is fixed to the fore end 10b of the rotating cam 10. A second compression coiled spring 24 is arranged between the spring retaining member 23 and the rotating cam 10.
