PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate drying and thermal decomposition of a raw material which is performed in a gasifying furnace and to reduce the tar contained in a produced gas. SOLUTION: The gasification apparatus is constituted by inserting an introduction cylinder 15 for introducing a raw material into a vertical gasifying furnace 11 having a cover and a closed-end into the gasifying furnace 11. And, on the sidewall of the gasification furnace 11, a plurality of openings 11v, 11w, 11x, 11y and 11z for introducing the gasification material into the inside of the gasifying furnace 11 are provided, and at least one opening 11v of these openings for introducing the gasification material is allowed to be open towards a partial oxidizing layer set below the opening 11v for introducing the gasification material and below the introduction cylinder 15 in the vertical direction and is provided towards the tangential direction of the sidewall in the horizontal direction.
