PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a communication network without using additional equipment in a non-communication area (radio wave untransmittable and unreceivable area) of a portable communication system. SOLUTION: Since a portable phone 123 that is desired to perform communication exists outside a telephone network as a result of retrieving a portable telephone network, a retrieval signal is transmitted as radio waves 152 to a portable phone existing in an ad hoc communication network area 142. Since an ad hoc communicable portable phone 122 exists in the ad hoc communication network area 142, when the portable phone 122 confirms ad hoc communication permission while the portable phone 122 does not communicate, communication connection with the portable phone 122 is established. The portable phone 122 similarly retrieves whether an ad hoc communicable portable phone exists within a d hoc communication network area 141, and since a portable phone 120 exists and is also within a communication area, a communication connection with portable phone 120 is established.
