PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pixel information replacing apparatus capable of reducing loads which may be generated due to compression processing and capable of reducing the information quantity of a compressed image. SOLUTION: A decision part 242 connected to an imaging element 221 acquires and stores the position of a pixel corresponding to an image signal outputted from the imaging element 221 and previously stores a mask area of an image displayed by an endoscope processor 300. The decision part 242 decides whether a pixel block belonging to a compressed pixel block data outputted from a third compression part 233 is completely included in the mask area or not from the position of the pixel and the mask area. When deciding that the pixel block is completely included in the mask area, the decision part 242 connects a second switch 243 to a ROM 241 and transmits data composed of "0, EOB" to the endoscope processor 300 instead of the compressed pixel block data.
