PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can avoid increase of the circuit scale and suppress the reduction of using efficiency and the reduction of processing speed when a defect of a point and line of a display panel is detected. SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus is provided with: a perpendicular memory address control circuit (for input) 23a for setting, every perpendicular direction cn, addresses where image data for one horizontal line is read from display panel image data of an image memory 12; a line buffer memory unit having v sets of h line buffer memories 24, as one set, for continuously storing each pixel data of ((h-1)×cm+1) of one horizontal line; an image memory control circuit 21 for sequentially reading image data of a plurality of horizontal lines from the image memory 12 line by line, and storing them in the line buffer memories 24; a comparing operation processing circuit 25 for performing comparison operation between pixels using pixel data for comparison operation output from the line buffer memories 24; and the image memory 12 for storing the operation result.
