PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high strength spherical graphite cast iron in which water embrittlement to deteriorate tensile strength and elongation upon the sticking of water is suppressed while maintaining its excellent toughness. SOLUTION: The high strength spherical graphite cast iron has a composition comprising, by weight, 2.0 to 4.0% C, 1.5 to 4.5% Si,≤2.0% Mn,≤0.08% P,≤0.03% S, 0.02 to 0.1% Mg and 1.8 to 4.0% Cu, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which water embrittlement is suppressed.
