PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily attach/detach a workpiece for polishing without any breakage of an edge part and degradation of the shape accuracy when grinding or polishing the workpiece such as a lens having a thin edge part. SOLUTION: In a holder 1 for fixing a lens 2 to a pin 10 of a polishing device M, a receiving member 6 is arranged inside an outer cylinder 7 via a spring 8 and a screw 9 in a displaceable manner in the thickness direction of the lens 2. During the polishing work, the receiving member 6 is pulled inside the outer cylinder 7 by the urging force of the spring 8, and an edge part 2c of the lens 2 is supported by an inner circumference of the outer cylinder 7 over the entire circumference. When the lens 2 is detached from the holder 1, the receiving member 6 and the lens 2 are pushed outside the outer cylinder 7 against the spring 8, and the edge part 2c is exposed from the outer cylinder 7.
