PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a metallic color coating article comprising an interfering color coating film layer with excellent feeling of luminosity where a thin film interference matches a multilayered film interference with lights interfering mutually. SOLUTION: A protective coating film is formed on the surface of a substrate, containing one or more among a group of silicone, siloxane, silane, silicate, silicon hydroxide and silica, and titanium-containing sol is coated thereon. By this configuration, incident light on the coating film layer composed of the irregularly formed thin film and multilayered film formed by laminating the thin films, induces the thin film interference and the multilayered film interference with lights reflected from the front and rear surfaces of the thin film and multilayered film according to the incident angle, and consequently the interfering color coating film layer with excellent feeling of luminosity where the thin film interference matches the multilayered film interference is formed. In order to solidify the above interfering color coating film layer, the surface coating film layer containing one or more among the group of silicone, siloxane, silane, silicate, silicon hydroxide and silica, is formed on the upper part of the interfering color coating film layer.
