PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saline water treatment method which facilitates the current-carrying control of saline water such as seawater, and stabilizes sterilizing effect by producing effectively an effective chlorine necessary for sterilization action even if various conditions for the flowing saline water vary in some degree. SOLUTION: If seawater is passed through a current-carrying treatment part impressed with a pulse wave, which rises in the positive direction a plurality of times by a predetermined voltage and thereafter falls in the negative direction the same times as in the positive direction by a voltage value approximately the same as that in the positive direction, and which has a first set condition that a time duration for passing through the part is approximately the same as a time duration for which the pulse wave impressed to the current-carrying treatment part rises or falls a plurality of times, the gradient of an effective chlorine concentration to a current-carrying amount has a gradual angleαof gradient so that an effective chlorine necessary for sterilization action is produced to stabilize sterilizing effect even if various conditions for the seawater vary in some degree since the control of each set value of pulse waves impressed to the current-carrying treatment part becomes easy.
