PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a function of polishing the surface of an object by making a rotary brush for cleaning self-rotate by a work action. SOLUTION: The brushing work is performed by pressing the brush against an object and moving the brush back and forth or to the right and left. The brush is used as a rotary brush by making it self-rotate using frictional resistance between the object and the brush. When the frictional resistances of the right and left of the brush shaft are not equal between the object and the brush in the brushing work direction, rotation torque corresponding to the difference of the frictional resistances is generated, to make the rotary brush self-rotate. As one way of making the contact resistance different at the right and left of the shaft of the rotary brush, the shaft of the rotary brush is slightly tilted toward the right or the left with respect to the movement of the brush. As another way of making the contact resistance different at the right and left of the shaft of the rotary brush, the brush is pressed against the object with force different at the right and left of the shaft of the rotary brush with respect to the movement of the brush.
