A filter device (10) is provided with a filter tank (11), a filter drum (13) disposed in the filter tank (11), and a drive mechanism (49) which rotates the filter drum (13). The filter element (41) is composed of a porous plate (40) that is formed with a large number of circulation holes (50). The porous plate (40) is formed into a cylindrical shape. An inlet port (50a) opens in an outer peripheral surface (40a) of the porous plate (40). An outlet port (50b) opens in an inner peripheral surface (40b) of the porous plate (40). The circulation hole (50) is formed by etching. A smallest opening (51) of the circulation hole (50) is formed between the inlet port (50a) and an intermediate part with respect to a plate thickness direction. An opening width of the circulation hole (50) increases from the smallest opening (51) toward the outlet port (50b) to form a tapered shape.
