A can for a secondary battery is provided to prevent the thickness increase of battery due to the expansion and deformation of the electrode assembly in charging and to minimize the capacity change of the battery by minimizing the forming location and number of grooves. A can(110) for a secondary battery comprises a pair of a long side(111) where the length facing each other is long; a pair of a short side adjacent with the long side, which are integrally formed; and a lower side which is integrally formed at the bottom part of the short side and long side. The groove(140) is formed at one or more long sides among a pair of long side in the longitudinal direction. The groove includes the central part groove(142) formed at the right center and the left and right grooves(144,146) formed in left and right parallelly. |
