Disclosed is the steering and driving of a flat bottomed watercraft by replacing the use of a non steering propeller and rudder with that of an outboard motor, whilst protecting the lower part of the outboard motor and its propeller from debris and the ground beneath the craft. The flat bottomed craft has a wedge shaped member mounted on the flat bottom of the craft, which reduces in cross-section towards a centerline of the craft as it extends towards the stern of the craft and terminates in line with the transom of the craft, where the outboard may be mounted. The wedge shaped member may be constructed using glass fibre, timber or rigid metals of any type in sheet form joined at the seams. The wedge shaped member directs water through the rotating propeller of the outboard while protecting the propeller from impact. Water is forced through the rotating propeller, which is then steered directly or indirectly either side of the wedge shaped member to maneuver the craft in the desired direction. |
