An acoustic matching body of the present invention includes a dried gel which is formed by polymerizing monomers containing a polymerizable organic silicon compound wherein a nonhydrolyzable organic group is directly bonded to silicon. This acoustic matching body can be used as an acoustic matching layer 2 of an ultrasonic oscillator 1 and can extend or contract following the expansion or contraction of a piezoelectric material 3 or the case connected to the acoustic matching layer 2 even if the piezoelectric material or the case expands or contracts, and thereby the acoustic matching body can be operated stably over a wide range of temperatures and can be used over a long period of time.
