<p>Apparatus for the sawing of stone materials comprising a frame (2) which is slidably supported so to be able to lower from above, onto a block (M) of material to be cut, diamond wire means (4) taut between banks of rollers (3) which are slidably supported by the frame so to define a plurality of adjacent and parallel cutting wires (4a), the apparatus being characterised in that the wire means (4) comprise a single wire (4) with spiral progression forming coaxial polygonal loops, the banks of rollers being arranged on respective vertices of the loops in pairs, in each pair the two banks being mutually and axially staggered from each other at about half the pitch of the rollers in a single bank, so that the wire (4) is alternately engaged with two corresponding rollers of banks staggered in a same direction and with two corresponding rollers of banks staggered in the other direction, defining a plurality of cutting lines (4a) spaced at about half the aforesaid pitch.
