Internet protocol communication using holographic displays

A holographic display is implemented in a communication system with which voice and holographic image over internet protocol (VHIOIP) services are provided. The display allows for peer-to-peer communication, file sharing and instant messaging over a global or local network, with accompanying images providing a perception of depth. The display may be provided with a spatial light modulator (SLM) with circuitry adjacent the SLM pixels to perform calculations determining the encoding of received holographic image data.
