METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MODIFYING TURBINE CONTROL SYSTEMS

A turbine control system and a modifying method thereof are provided to reduce the time the turbine is in off-line state due to the upgrade of the control system by limiting the amount of hardware to be replaced. A method for modifying a turbine control system(100) includes a step for replacing a legacy main controller processor(120a) communicating with a first communication protocol with a main controller processor communicating with a second communication protocol, a step for maintaining a legacy IO processor which communicates with a turbine monitoring apparatus(130) communicating with the first communication protocol, and a step for providing a converter communicating with the main controller processor and with the legacy IO processor. The converter converts the second communication protocol of communication from the main controller processor into the first communication protocol, and transmits the communication to the legacy IO processor.
