A drainage system for a shower or wet room, the system comprising: a base member (4) having a drainage chamber (12), for mounting in the floor of the shower or wet room: a removable top member which when fitted on the base member (4) provides at least one opening (16) for water to drain into the drainage chamber; and an outlet (10) for water in the drainage chamber (12); characterized in that the system further comprises a pump (34) within the drainage chamber (12) for pumping water from the drainage chamber (12) through the outlet (10), the pump (34) being accessible for maintenance or repair when the top member (6) is removed. Also claimed is a drainage system for a shower or wet room comprising a base member having a drainage chamber for mounting in the floor of a shower or wet room, a removable top member which when fitted on the base member provides at least one opening for water to drain into the drainage chamber, an outlet for water in the drainage chamber, wherein the base member includes an external mounting frame and at least one floodwater channel in a side wall above the outlet and the mounting frame in fluid communication with the drainage chamber so that external flood water can enter the drainage chamber, characterized in that water which enters the base member through the or each floodwater channel will be channeled to the drainage chamber via a floodwater conduit which is provided with an air check valve that will substantially prevent flow of water from the drainage chamber into the floodwater conduit. |
