A reed is defined by a stack of spaced toothed discs carried on a common rotating shaft, the discs each having pref. three teeth, extending around a given arc, and increasing in height in the opposite direction to the rotational direction, and corresponding teeth along the stack defining a helical surface. As the discs rotate, the first two teeth move the weft pick progressively towards the fabric face, and the third tooth beats the weft pick up.
|
