A method for applying a condom onto a penis, the method comprising: applying the condom onto an expanding device;inserting at least a portion of the expanding device in a receiving component chamber defined by a condom receiving component through a receiving component proximal aperture leading into the receiving component chamber with the condom applied thereonto; expanding the condom using the expanding device with the condom applied thereonto; sealing the condom against the chamber peripheral surface delimiting the receiving component chamber so as to prevent ambient air from entering between the chamber peripheral surface and at least a section of th e condom by creating a seal between the condom and the chamber peripheral surface; retracting the expanding device and removing the expanding device deprived of the condom from the receiving component chamber; inserting the penis of an intended user in the receiving component chamber with the condom sealed against the chamber peripheral surface; breaking the seal between the condom and the chamber peripheral surface to allow the condom to retract onto the penis; and transferring the condom from the condom receiving component to the penis.
