DRIVING MEHTOD AND DRIVING UNIT FOR DISCHARGING LAMP IN BACKLIGHT UNIT

An apparatus for driving a discharging lamp of a backlight unit is provided to improve the lighting failure, and initial over current, and flickering phenomenon, thereby improving the display quality. A discharging lamp applies higher current than normal current instantly and repeatedly. A first analog dimming voltage comprising peak voltage is applied repeatedly to the discharging lamp. A second analog dimming voltage which is independently varied against the first dimming voltage is applied. The second dimming voltage is 1.2 ~ 3 times higher than the first dimming voltage.
