A geothermal heat pump system and control method thereof is provided to prevent the ground temperature from rising by decreasing the heat of the heat medium. A geothermal heat pump system comprises as the follows. A geothermic heat exchanger(110) is laid under the equipment house outside underground. An air heat source heat exchanger(120) is installed on ground. A circulation fan(130) operates with a fan motor(M) connected to the air heat source heat exchanger. A ground temperature control device includes a key input unit, a first temperature sensor, a second temperature sensor, a first current portion, a second current portion, a third temperature sensor, and a ground temperature control micro computer.
