Disclosed is a method for producing secondary butanol wherein an n-butene is directly hydrated by using an aqueous heteropoly acid solution as a catalyst. This method for producing secondary butanol is characterized by using water wherein oxygen is dissolved as a raw material water. The raw material water is preferably oxygen-saturated water.
