<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing characteristics by a method except a method for equipping a print head with information on an improvement in printing characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A printer, which is connected to a server via a network, comprises: an improvement information request section which notifies the server of identification information, peculiar to the print head, via the network; an improvement information storage section for storing downloaded information on an improvement in head characteristics; and a printing processing section which performs a printing operation by referring to the information on the improvement in the head characteristics, stored in the improvement information storage section. The server is equipped with a storage area for storing the identification information peculiar to the print head and information on the improvement in the head characteristics in such a manner that both of them are associated with each other, and an improvement information supply section which transmits the information on the improvement in the head characteristics, corresponding to the identification information peculiar to the print head, received via the network, by reading the information on the improvement from the storage area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
