PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation body detector capable of quickly detecting the rotating direction switching time of a rotation body. SOLUTION: Two sensors 21, 22 are opposedly arranged at the rotation body to output two binary detection signals of rectangular wave shape with different phases following the rotation, and when the detection signal of one sensor rises/falls, the detection signal of the other sensor is observed to detect the rotating direction of the rotation body. Further, when the rotating direction is switched, the earlier one of detection timing out of the two detection signals 21a, 22a is selected and output as the discriminated result (det_a) of the rotating direction.
