PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel photocrosslinkable polymeric compound which can effectively react (cure) upon being irradiated with an actinic radiation, to provide a liquid containing the compound, and to provide a gel formation method using the liquid. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a polymeric compound characterized by having side chains (a) each of which, when irradiated with an actinic radiation, generates at itself a radical exhibiting addition reactivity with a polymerizable group and side chains b each of which has the polymerizable group.
