The motor exhaust gas turbocharger, with a variable turbine and/or compressor geometry, has a rotating vane unit (1) with a ring of vanes (2) secured to a mounting ring (4) by pins (3). The pins pass axially through the vane ring and are keyed to vane levers (5) at one end. The radial head (7) of each vane lever has a geometrical shape so that an axis (12) of the assembly, the vane pin axis (13) and a contact zone (14) between the lever head support surface (11) and the laying surface (10) at the setting ring (9) lie on a radial straight line (15) irrespective of the vane setting.
