PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating for use in coating of titanium or a titanium alloy, capable of forming a hydrophilic coating film on a titanium or titanium alloy surface without loss of its metallic quality; and to provide coated titanium or titanium alloy having a hydrophilic property as well as metallic quality. SOLUTION: (1) The coating contains an alumina sol, a silica sol, a cation-modified resin, and sericite. (2) The coating further contains lipophilic synthetic mica.
