PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for smoking pipe tobacco, capable of significantly removing toxic components such as tar in tobacco smoke, and also giving easily dry feeling owing to spontaneously removing moisture emitted from the tobacco and moisture contained in (exhaled) breath as well, and to provide a pipe to be used for the method. SOLUTION: The method for smoking pipe tobacco includes forming a filter layer composed of toxic matter-removing substance particles 2 in a tobacco smoke path for smoking. The pipe P is such that the filter layer is formed by spreading the particles 2 over the bottom of a bowl or fitting a mouthpiece dowel with a filter 1 filled with the particles 2.
