A device for training personnel to fire recoilless weapons having side triggering comprises a breech 1 for detachable connection at 3 to a sub calibre cartridge and for insertion into the rear end of a sub calibre barrel 32 to be placed in the barrel of the weapon, the breech 1 comprising a chamber 10 for an auxiliary cartridge disposed transversely of the longitudinal axis of the breech body, first and second bores 11 and 4 extending rearwardly and forwardly along that axis, the connection 3 being provided at the front end of the second bore, which bore contains a firing pin 5 for the sub calibre cartridge, a body member 1a movably mounted on the body to cover an open end of chamber 10 and accommodating a second firing pin 16 for the auxiliary cartridge, ignition of which causes the first pin 5 to be driven forward to ignite the sub calibre cartridge whilst a flame is directed rearwardly from the chamber through the first bore 11. The second firing pin is depressed by a movable cap 12 which is depressed when a detonating cap 30 is ignited by the weapon's triggering device. Depression of cap 12 is prevented by projections 23, 24 on a spring- biased slide 21 until the breech is inserted in the sub calibre barrel 32, the slide then moving rightwards to remove the projections from the parts 25, 26 on the cap 12. The flange 2 provides a bayonet connection between the breech and the sub calibre barrel. |
