A switching mode power supply and the driving method thereof is provided to extract DC output voltage of output unit without optic-coupler and shunt regulator. In a switching mode power supply, a switch is coupled to a fist coil of the primary side at the transformer converting the input DC current. A power supply unit supplies power to the secondary coil and the third coil of transformer according to the operation of the switch(100). A switching controller(400) controls ON/OFF of the switch by receiving feedback voltage corresponding to the first voltage generated at the third coil of the secondary side and detection signal flowing the switch.
