<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high luminance and high uniformity even in an illumination device with a large scale. <P>SOLUTION: Light emission panel layers (organic EL panel arrayals 51, 52) are constituted by planarly arranging a plurality of light emission panels (e.g., organic EL panels 31a, 31b). The light emission panel layers (the organic EL panel arrayals 51, 52) are laminated so as to constitute a light emission panel lamination part in the illumination device.
