PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a warning device and a warning method, by which when one's own vehicle is likely to run in an opposite direction of a traveling road, a driver can immediately avoid the risk of a collision accident with an oncoming vehicle running in the traveling direction of the traveling road. SOLUTION: The device comprises a reverse run probability determination part 160 and a warning part 180. When the determination part 160 determines the probability of reverse run of the own vehicle in the traveling direction of the road, the warning part 180 guides a direction of the own vehicle for avoiding the reverse run to the driver, whereby guide information necessary for safely avoiding the reverse run is provided to the driver. Accordingly, the driver can accurately and immediately avoid the reverse run by driving the vehicle according to the guide, and the risk of the collision accident with the oncoming vehicle traveling along the traveling direction of the road can be avoided.
