摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of accurately determining how a sensor performs even in a situation where a mist of color ink adheres to the optical sensor having light-emitting elements and light-receiving elements corresponding to emission wavelengths of a plurality of colors, and a recording device carrying out the method. SOLUTION: The performance discernment method is employed to judge how the performance of the optical sensor provided in a carriage lowers from a cumulative discharge count of an ink color corresponding to the quantity of a mist and the degrees of influence which each ink exerts on an LED of each color. Consequently, the method enables the accurate judgement of how the sensor performs even in a situation where a mist of a color ink adheres to the optical sensor having the light-emitting elements and the light-receiving elements corresponding to emission wavelengths of a plurality of colors.
