The present invention relates to specific hemin derivatives, a kit comprising these hemin derivatives in combination with apo-horseradish peroxidase (apo-HRP), and an assay method for detecting and/or quantifying an analyte in a biological sample which comprises detecting hydrogen peroxide generated in the presence as opposed to the absence of said analyte by bringing said sample into contact with such a kit.
