<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thin film magnetic head which is reduced in influence which is exerted upon the tip of a main magnetic pole layer in its magnetic zone structure by controlling a magnetic zone of the tip of a main magnetic pole layer even if the rear magnetic zone structure of the main magnetic pole layer is not controlled, and suppressed in PE. <P>SOLUTION: The thin film magnetic head has a pole straight part exposed on a face opposing a recording medium, and a main magnetic pole layer having a flare expanded in the track width direction forward a height direction interior side from the pole straight part, the flare has flares of two or more stages forward the height direction interior side from the pole straight part, each flare is formed in a shape in which magnetic flux is squeezed stepwise forward the pole straight part from a base, projections extended in the track width direction are formed at both sides of the flare near the pole straight part so that the width becomes not smaller than the film thickness of the main magnetic pole layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
