The consumable electrode working heads are disposed in line and are passed along the workpiece depositing parallel layers on its surface. The speed of deposition must be adjusted such, that the temp. of the deposit on the workpiece is above the critical temp. of the deposit for the duration of deposition of two layers. In the prefd. version the deposits are applied in a modified zig-zag fashion, the flux remaining still being fluid when the electrode passes the previously applied seam on its return travel. In the prefd. version seams are less than 5 mm apart. The process yield more uniform layers of improved metallurgical quality.
