<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of inexpensively producing rhamnan sulfate. <P>SOLUTION: Rhamnan sulfate can be produced by subjecting Ulvaceae, a family of green algae, to cellulase treatment and protease treatment. It is desirable that the cellulase treatment precedes the protease treatment. Further, it is desirable that the Ulvaceae is mixed with water before it is subjected to the treatments.
