PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the reliability and a safe operation of a programmable data processor such a controller for an automobile, an aircraft, a ship, or the like. SOLUTION: This data processor has at least one operation memory (BS), and an operation data (BD) can be stored or is stored in the operation memory, so as to operate the data processor. A protection unit (PU) has at least one monitoring logic part (UeL) and at least one protection logic part (SL) in an execution environment protected from an unauthorized access. The monitoring logic part (UeL) accesses the operation memory to monitor an unauthorized change and access to the operation data stored in the operation memory, or a similar protection violation, and informs the protection logic part (SL) of the optional protection violation, in case thereof.
