PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with an interchangeable lens which can perform highly accurate focusing by a hill climbing AF system even in the infinity position or the closest position with respect to all interchangeable lenses including existing interchangeable lenses. SOLUTION: Lens type data for judging a lens type of an interchangeable lens 2 and an infinity side/closest side driving limit position has been stored into a lens data memory 20 of the interchangeable lens 2. During AF, a control part 16 acquires the lens type data from the lens data memory 20, and when it is judged, on the basis of the lens type data, that the interchangeable lens 2 is an interchangeable lens for phase difference AF allowing hill climbing AF to be performed, the control part 16 acquires the infinity side/closest side driving limit position from the lens data memory 20, and changes the acquired infinity side/closest side driving limit position and then performs hill climbing AF.
