PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery capable of suppressing deterioration of electrodes. SOLUTION: A third electrode 56 is brought into contact with an electrolyte 58, and is disposed in a non-contact state with a positive electrode 52 and a negative electrode 54. A voltage sensor 60 detects the potential difference▵VP between the positive electrode 52 and the third electrode 56, and outputs it to an ECU. The voltage sensor 62 detects the potential difference▵VN between the negative electrode 54 and the third electrode 56, and outputs it to the ECU.
