PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve lift actuator for suppressing reduction in fuel economy of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This actuator 10 has: a rotation-linear motion converting mechanism 30 having a linear motion shaft 34 provided with a recessed part 110 and making linear motion, and a rotary body 32 making rotary motion together with a control shaft 12 and converting the rotary motion of the rotary body 32 into the linear motion of the linear motion shaft 34; an electric motor 50 driving the rotary body 32; a housing 20 forming a through-hole 100 of penetrating the linear motion shaft 34 in the axial direction and a supply hole 104 opening on a through-hole inner peripheral surface 101 and supplied with lubricating oil; and a movable body 120 supported in the supply hole 104, fitted in the recessed part 110 of the linear motion shaft 34 of a preset moving position by receiving pressure of the supply lubricating oil to the hole 104 from the opposite side of the through-hole 100 and separating from the recessed part 110 by making driving axial force larger than transmission axial force to the linear motion shaft 34, act on the linear motion shaft 34 from the control shaft 12 side in response to current-carrying to the electric motor 50.
