PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a relay connection unit from entering a wake-up state, when a message frame which need not be relayed flows to a bus, while the relay connection unit is in a sleep state. SOLUTION: There is provided an in-vehicle relay connection unit 10 which is connected to a plurality of buses 31, where ECUs 30 are connected, respectively and relays transmission and reception of message frames between the ECUs, the relay connection unit having a receiver 20, a relay processing unit 11, a network management processing unit 12 managing transition of a relay connection state, and a diagnosis processing unit 13 transmitting and receiving data to and from a diagnosis connected to the relay connection unit. Then when the receiver 20 receives a message frame which needs to be relayed by placing other processing units, that include the relay processing unit 11, the network management processing unit 12, and the diagnosis processing unit 13, in wake-up states, even if they are in sleep states, the receiver 20 outputs a wake-up signal to at least the connected relay processing unit 11, network management processing unit 12, and diagnosis processing unit 13.
