PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve control device suppressing flapping of a pressure receiving member such as a vane caused by mixing of air into a retard chamber or an advance chamber to accurately make an advance control or a retard control. SOLUTION: The variable valve control device comprises: a camshaft 11; a pulley 12 driven by an engine; a vane rotor 14 disposed to one of the camshaft 11 and the pulley 12; a housing 15 disposed to the other of the camshaft 11 and the pulley 12, and forming the advance chamber 16a and the retard chamber 16b between the vane rotor 14 and itself; and a control means 3 controlling the vane rotor 14 to be in a target angular position, by supplying oil to either the advance chamber 16a or the retard chamber 16b through a bearing clearance g between a journal part 11a and a bearing 5. When the vane rotor 14 is held in a target position for a predetermined time, the control means 3 supplies the oil to either the advance chamber 16a or the retard chamber 16b.
