The present invention proposes a method for constructing a support ring i n a curved wall, in particular around an opening in a curved wall of a hot b last stove, wherein the method comprises providing a plurality of standardis ed wedge-shaped bricks (12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22) with side faces (32, 34) hav ing tongue and groove profiles (36, 38) for cooperating with the side faces of the neighbouring bricks, the thickness (T) of the brick in the axial dire ction being in excess of the desired end thickness (t) of the brick. The met hod comprises determining the intended location of each individual brick in the curved wall and determining, based on the intended location, the locatio n of a front cut line (56) and a rear cut line (58) for shaping the front an d rear faces (24, 26) of the brick. The front and rear faces (24, 26) of the brick are then shaped in accordance with the above determined front and rea r cut lines (56, 58) by means of a cutting tool. |
