PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit for an opening and closing body such as a door of a vehicle and the like, which prevents a foreign matter from falling and entering the central portion of a rotating drum for driving a cable for power transmission.

SOLUTION: A diameter-enlarged portion 25 with a diameter larger than an outside diameter of an outer peripheral surface with a formed spiral groove 23 is provided on the opening-side outer peripheral surface, on the lateral side with respect to the spiral groove 23, of the rotating drum 13 around which cables 24a and 24b linked to the opening and closing body are wound.
