PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aβ-L-2'-deoxynucleoside active against drug-resistant hepatitis B virus with mutation. SOLUTION: Disclosed are a method for treatment against lamivudine-resistant HBV (M552V) in a host comprising administering aβ-L-2'-deoxynucleoside or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or prodrug thereof, a method for treatment against lamivudine-resistant HBV (M552V) in a naive host comprising administeringβ-L-2'-deoxynucleoside or a pharmaceutically compatible salt, ester or prodrug thereof, a method for preventing emergence of lamivudine-resistant HBV (M552V) mutation from occurring in a naive host comprising administering aβ-L-2'-deoxynucleoside or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or prodrug thereof, and a method for preventing and/or suppressing the emergence of HBV double mutant strains (L528M/M552V) in a host comprising administeringβ-L-2'-deoxynucleoside or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or prodrug thereof.
