PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly simplify manufacture by more simplifying fabrication to store an adjusting slide in a cylinder. SOLUTION: This two-cycle internal combustion engine comprises the cylinder 2, and a cylinder head 4 detachably fixed thereto. The cylinder 2 has a main exhaust port 12 and at least one sub exhaust port 13. The sub exhaust port 13 is covered at least in part with an adjusting slide member. The adjusting slide member can be operated by a slide stem 16 which is arranged in inclination to a cylinder shaft and operated in the axial direction by an actuator 19. The adjusting slide member integrally consists of the common adjusting slide 14 connected to the slide stem 16 and the slide stem 16 passing through the cylinder head 4.
