PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device capable of easily transferring an image using the capability information of a transmission destination by IPP. SOLUTION: A communication control part 12 requests and acquires capability information to and from an opposite party through a communicating part 11, incorporates the capability information into address information 14, and stores it into a storing part 13, during registering the address information or during using the address information to select the opposite party. During transfer of an image, the communication control part 12 limits the setting of application function within the range of the capability of the opposite party, according to the acquired capability information and receives the setting of the application function within a settable range. Then, during the transfer of the image by the IPP, the communication control part 12 notifies the opposite party about the set application function to transfer the image. Consequently, similar to facsimile communication, capability exchange is readily performed, and by using data exchange network, the image can be transferred. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
