The input device (1) has switches with keys (2, 3), where the input device is formed in a form of three times of three key fields and the keys are haptically detectable. A display (5) is attached to the input device, which is arranged in a direct field of vision of a driver of a motor vehicle. The input device is positioned as a separate component individually and stationarily around a steering wheel axle. The input device is formed as a touch screen. A direction of a motion and a speed of a fingertip striking over one key field are detectable.
